Inspect the Transfer Pump & Filters - Replace both the primary and secondary fuel filters. Ensure you use high-efficiency (2-micron) filters. Inspect the fuel transfer pump for wear; if it's weak, the high-pressure pump won't receive enough fuel.
Oil Quality Check - Change the engine oil and oil filter. HEUI pumps use engine oil to create high-pressure fuel injection. Dirty or incorrect viscosity oil will cause immediate performance issues.
Lubrication on Install - Apply clean engine oil to the O-rings and the pump drive gear. Warning: Never dry-start. Fill the pump with clean diesel through the inlet before connecting the lines.
